I am the proud owner of 360 Café, located in Turrúcares, Alajuela, Costa Rica. Over the years, I've had the privilege of welcoming both locals and tourists from all over the world to our restaurant. Many come looking for authentic Costa Rican coffee, others for a good home-cooked meal, but almost all of them ask me the same question: "What places do you recommend I visit around here?"
Today I want to share some of my personal recommendations so you can enjoy the best of Alajuela and its surroundings.
One of the must-sees is the Poás Volcano, a natural spectacle that always leaves our visitors speechless. Its enormous crater, surrounded by cloud forests, is one of those sights you'll forever remember. The hike takes a few hours, and believe me: after the hike, nothing beats returning to Turrúcares and enjoying a delicious traditional lunch at 360 Café, accompanied by freshly filtered coffee.

Another fascinating place is Catarata del Toro, an impressive waterfall in the middle of the jungle. The journey is a bit longer, but it's worth it. For those who prefer something closer, the Butterfly Garden in the city of Alajuela is perfect: a colorful space, ideal for families and photography enthusiasts. And, of course, I can't forget to mention Zoo Ave, a wildlife sanctuary that works to conserve local species.
A more remote place, but still located in the province of Alajuela, that I invite my tourist friends to discover is "Rio Celeste." Located in the heart of the Tenorio Volcano National Park, Río Celeste is a natural gem that captivates every visitor with the impressive turquoise hue of its waters, the result of a unique chemical phenomenon. Surrounded by lush tropical rainforest, trails filled with wildlife, and an imposing waterfall that seems straight out of a storybook, this destination in Alajuela is perfect for nature, photography, and adventure lovers. Visiting Río Celeste is a magical and unforgettable experience amidst the pure beauty of Costa Rica.

I highly recommend visiting the Costa Rica Animal Rescue Center, just an 11-minute drive from Café 360. It's a wonderful place where you can spend time with rescued animals and enjoy an unforgettable experience.

But it's not all about nature. The city of Alajuela also has history and culture to offer. The Juan Santamaría Historical and Cultural Museum is a must-see to understand part of our identity. And if you're looking for a nice souvenir to take home, the local markets offer fresh fruit, handicrafts, and that authentic vibe of everyday Costa Rican life.
Now, between adventure and culture, there's something you should never forget: trying the local cuisine. In Costa Rica, we say that traveling on an empty stomach is a sin, and at 360 Café, we make sure that doesn't happen. Here you can savor a gallo pinto for breakfast, a well-served casado at lunch, or a coffee with a slice of homemade cake in the afternoon. We always serve with our heart, because we believe every dish tells a story.
So now you know: if you visit Alajuela, indulge in its landscapes, its culture, and its people. And when hunger or thirst reminds you that you're human, we're here at 360 Café, in Turrúcares, to offer you a little piece of Costa Rica in every bite.
With love from Julio
